About This Scheme

Launched in 2005, the scheme "Nawabihan Scheme" by the State Government aims to implement the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005. Two significant benefits of this scheme include providing necessary legal advice and offering shelter facilities to women affected by domestic violence. Two significant eligibility criteria include being a woman who has experienced domestic violence and requiring assistance as per the provisions of the aforementioned Act. The scheme is implemented by the State Government through the designated Women Protection Officer in each district. Applications for this scheme are accepted offline through the concerned authorities.

Eligibility

- The applicant must be a woman. - The applicant must have experienced domestic violence as defined under the "[Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005](https://www.indiacode.nic.in/bitstream/123456789/15436/1/protection_of_women_from_domestic_violence_act%2C_2005.pdf)".- The applicant must be in need of legal advice, counselling, medical aid, transportation, or shelter as per the provisions of the scheme.
