Privacy Policy

Sarkari Updates is an independent, unofficial aggregator of Indian government job postings and scheme updates. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Government of India or any state government.

Browsing the website: reading job and scheme listings doesn't require an account.

Creating an account: an account is required to use the mobile app, and required on the website for the dashboard, saved items, and application tracker. Signing up collects your email address (verified with a one-time code sent to it), a hashed password, and optionally your name.

Saved items and application tracking: if you're signed in, we store the jobs and schemes you save, and any postings you mark as applied — including the stage you set (applied, admit card, exam, interview, result) and any reminder date you add.

Alert delivery: if you turn on alerts, we store only what each channel needs to reach you — your Telegram chat ID if you link it, your browser's Web Push subscription keys if you enable browser notifications, and/or your device's push token if you enable app notifications. You choose which channels to use per category of alert.

Using the Telegram bot on its own: if you message our bot directly and send /subscribe without an account, we store your Telegram chat ID and, if you provide one, the state name you asked to filter by. We never receive your name, phone number, or any other Telegram profile data — Telegram doesn't share that with bots.

Support chat: messages you send through in-app support chat, so we can read and respond to them.

Advertising: the website shows ads through Google AdSense, and the mobile app shows ads through Google AdMob (currently test ads only, while the app isn't yet listed on the Play Store). These Google services may use cookies, your IP address, or your device's advertising identifier to select and measure ads — governed by Google's own privacy policy, not ours.

To run the features you actually use — deliver the alerts you asked for, show your saved items and tracked applications back to you, and respond to support requests. Ads help cover the cost of running a free service. We don't sell your data, and beyond what Google's own ad services do under their policies, we don't build advertising profiles or share your data with advertisers ourselves.

Account data (profile, saved items, applications, alert preferences, push tokens) is kept while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account yourself from Account Settings → Delete Account at any time — this starts a 7-day grace period (in case you change your mind and log back in), after which everything tied to it is erased permanently, not just deactivated. If you cannot access the app, use our web deletion request page.

Telegram-only subscriptions (no account) are kept until you send /unsubscribe, at which point they're deleted immediately.

Advertising data is governed by Google's own retention policies, not ours.

Telegram messages pass through Telegram's own infrastructure (see Telegram's privacy policy). App push notifications are relayed through Expo's push service, which sees only the device token needed to deliver them. Ads are served by Google (AdSense on the website, AdMob in the app), under Google's own policies. Our database and servers are run by our hosting providers, who have no access to your data beyond what's needed to run the infrastructure. We do not sell your data to anyone, and we don't share it with any other third party beyond what's described on this page.

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you have an account, Account Settings → Delete Account handles this yourself, instantly. For the Telegram-only bot, sending /unsubscribe handles deletion instantly and directly. For anything else, including correcting your data or asking what we hold, contact us at sarkariupdatesandschemes@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

This app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone who identifies as under 18.

If what we collect or why changes further, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above before the change takes effect.
