APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship
About This Scheme
The A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Scholarship (APJAK) is administered by the Minority Welfare Department of Kerala for the academic year. This scholarship program aims to support students from various religious minority groups (Muslim, Christian (all denominations), Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi) in Kerala. The scheme is implemented by the Directorate of Minority Welfare. > Note: The last date to apply for fresh applications is February 3, 2025.
Eligibility
1. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Kerala. 1. The applicant must be a regular/scheduled student. 1. The applicant should belong to a religious minority community (Muslim, Christian (all denominations), Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi). 1. The applicant must be studying a three-year diploma course in a government, aided, or government-approved self-financing polytechnic institution. 1. The applicant must have secured admission in a merit seat in a government-approved self-financing polytechnic institution. 1. The applicant's family annual income should not exceed ₹8,00,000/- if from the APL (Above Poverty Line) category. 1. The applicant can be a second-year or third-year student. 1. The applicant must have an account in their own name in any nationalised bank or scheduled bank. > Preference/Priority/Reservation/Relaxation: - BPL (Below Poverty Line) category applicants will be given preference. - 30% of the scholarships are reserved for girls. If the specified percentage of girls is not met, eligible boys will also be considered for the scholarship. - The selection of minority students is based on family annual income and marks, proportionate to the population.
Benefits
1. Financial support of ₹6,000/- per annum for selected scholars. 1. The scholarship is intended for students pursuing three-year diploma courses in government, aided, or government-approved self-financing polytechnic institutions. > Frequency of Disbursement: > The scholarship is a one-time benefit.
