About This Scheme
The âWest Bengal Transport Workersâ Social Security Scheme: Medical Benefit for Major Ailmentsâ by the Labour Department, West Bengal, is designed to alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses for individuals and families dealing with severe health conditions. Under this scheme, financial assistance up-to âč20,000/- is provided for the treatment of beneficiaries or their family members suffering from major ailments Cancer, Leprosy, T.B, brain stroke, cardiac problems, malfunctioning of kidney(s), AIDS, Eye Ailments, Vericosis of Vein, or Thalassemia requiring hospitalisation and treatment. In cases of major surgery, additional relief up to âč60,000/-may be allowed.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be between 18 and 60 years of age at the time of enrolment. - The applicant must be an unorganized worker employed in the operation of commercial vehicles, such as cars, taxis, luxury taxis, light commercial vehicles, vans, auto-rickshaws, tempos, lorries, trucks, or buses. - The applicantâs vehicle must be used for commercial purposes and not solely for personal or family use.
