About This Scheme

The Sports and Wellness Scheme, under the Planning Department of the Government of Meghalaya, is an initiative designed to encourage both registered and unregistered firms to establish modern sporting facilities in Meghalaya. The scheme has the dual objectives of enhancing well-being and improving the health of the local population. By promoting physical fitness, mental health, and healthier lifestyles through sports and wellness activities, the scheme aims to benefit the community by providing opportunities for physical exercise, sports participation, and other wellness-related activities that contribute to better overall health outcomes.

Eligibility

Individuals 1. The applicant must be a resident of Meghalaya and provide valid government ID proof. 1. The applicant must be between 18 and 58 years of age. 1. The applicant must possess land, either self-owned or on lease, verified by the competent authority. 1. The entrepreneur must provide proof of relevant experience in the field through past projects, portfolios, certifications, or testimonials. Registered Entities 1. The firm or company must be registered in Meghalaya, such as Pvt. Ltd., LLP, or Sole Proprietorship, and must operate as a “for-profit” organization. 1. The organization must provide an Incorporation Certificate or registration certificate, whichever is applicable. 1. The entity must ensure that at least two members possess a training certificate in the relevant sector from a recognized institution, preferably a government institute. 1. The entity must possess land, either self-owned or on lease, verified by the competent authority. 1. The entrepreneur must not be a credit defaulter with any bank.

Benefits

1. Upfront subsidy up to 25% of total project cost (maximum ₹37.5 lakh for most applicantssemi_colon ₹75 lakh for top 5 promising entrepreneurs) 1. Backend support up to 10% of project cost (maximum ₹12.5 lakhsemi_colon ₹25 lakh for top 5 promising entrepreneurs) 1. 5% entrepreneur’s own contribution required, with remaining balance via bank loan (up to ₹2.1 crore for top 5semi_colon up to ₹1.05 crore for others) 1. 18-month moratorium before EMI repayment beginssemi_colon 15-year total loan term 1. Mentoring and acceleration coaching support through PRIME Meghalaya 1. One-time financial assistance for setting up sports and wellness infrastructure (gyms, swimming pools, football grounds, etc.) 1. Priority selection ensuring one facility per district before additional approvals
