About This Scheme

The scheme "Lifetime Contribution to Khell/Khell-Tiatr Awards" was launched by the Tiatr Academy under the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to recognize the immense contribution of Khell and Khell-Tiatr artistes who have significantly contributed to the development of this traditional art form, addressing the need to honor veteran performers who have dedicated their lives to preserving and promoting this cultural heritage. The scheme provides a prestigious lifetime achievement award consisting of a shawl, memento, citation, and cash burse of ₹50,000/- to deserving artistes, with a comprehensive selection process that evaluates excellence in acting, script writing, directing, singing, lyrics writing, set designing, and other theatrical contributions. The applications are accepted through recommendations from individuals/institutions and advertisements in local newspapers.

Eligibility

- The applicant must be not less than 60 years of age. - The applicant must have at least 10 years of contribution in the field of Khell-Tiatr. - The applicant must demonstrate excellence as an actor, script writer, director, singer, lyricist, set designer, or other theatrical role in Khell/Khell-Tiatr. - The applicant who is an actor/singer/stage manager/lights effects provider/make-up artist/costume designer/live music/background music provider must have performed in at least 10 khell-tiatrs. - The applicant who is a writer/director must have written/directed at least 10 khell-tiatrs. _*Award can only be received once in a lifetime across all related categories._ ##### *Evaluation Considerations* - The applicant's innovative contributions to the presentation of Khell/Khell-Tiatr will be evaluated. - The applicant's work in other languages or films beyond Khell/Khell-Tiatr will be considered. - The applicant's published books of scripts/lyrics will be taken into account. - The applicant's previous awards in the field will be considered. ##### *Relaxation* Age limit may be relaxed if the health of the artiste is not well.

Benefits

- Cash burse of ₹50,000/- awarded to selected artistes. - Prestigious recognition through shawl, memento, and citation. - Special honor ceremony held annually on 24th October on the Birth Anniversary of Rosario Rodrigues, 'Promoter of Khell-Tiatr'. - Maximum 3 artistes are honored each year. _*The selected artistes must be compulsorily present in person to receive the award._
