About This Scheme
The scheme "Top Class Education for Scheduled Caste Students" by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India aims to recognize and promote quality education among Scheduled Caste students by providing financial support for pursuing studies beyond Class 12. Through this scheme, scholarship assistance covering tuition fees, non-refundable charges, and academic allowance is provided to eligible Scheduled Caste students studying in notified institutions of excellence across the country. The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment through the National Scholarship Portal. A total of 1,900 fresh scholarships are awarded annually on the basis of merit. Thirty percent of the scholarship slots are reserved for eligible Scheduled Caste girl students. The scholarship is available for the full duration of the approved course, subject to satisfactory academic progress and fulfillment of the scheme conditions. The scheme seeks to reduce financial barriers and enable students from Scheduled Caste communities to access high-quality higher education opportunities.
Eligibility
1. The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category. 1. The applicant should have secured admission to a notified institution identified under the scheme. 1. The applicant should be pursuing a course beyond Class 12 in a notified institution. 1. The applicant's total annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹8,00,000. 1. The applicant should be admitted through the prescribed admission process and satisfy the merit requirements applicable to the institution/course. 1. The applicant should be a first-year student of the approved course for consideration under the fresh scholarship category. > Reservation: - 30% of the scholarship slots are reserved for eligible Scheduled Caste girl students. - Unutilized slots reserved for girls may be transferred to eligible male students.
Benefits
1. Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges shall be paid. 1. For private sector institutions, the fee support is subject to a ceiling of ₹2,00,000 per annum per student. 1. Academic Allowance: - ₹86,000 in the first year. - ₹41,000 in each subsequent year. 1. Allowance covers living expenses, books and stationery, computer/laptop, UPS, printer, and any other academic requirements necessary for successful completion of the course.
